This is truly a ridiculous turn of events. What's the use of developing a technology such as e-books and e-readers, only to turn around and limit it in ways that make it less useful than the previous technology?

Perhaps a subscription-based service to libraries would make sense if companies really want to get their money's worth. You can either wait in the queue for that one copy of the e-book as people are doing now, or pay a monthly fee to check out as much as you want (though still with the need to 'return' them after a couple of weeks).
